    Hi,
I am the interpreter for a student coming to Martha's Vineyard on a class trip in May. She is researching dolphin communication and also would like to link it to the Deaf history on the island. Is there currently a strong Deaf community on the island? Any suggestions on where to find more info? We do have the book Everyone Here Spoke Sign on order but are looking for other resources and info. (Students aren't allowed to post to message boards, but I will pass on any info I receive.)
    Thanks.

I suggest that you might want to get in touch with the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School. There is an interperter there who herself is deaf. Her name is Jill Nichols and she was the subject of a book written by her grandmother called Mainstreaming Jill. I bet that Jill might be the answer. Good luck!
