I am looking for a list of pet-friendly public recreation areas on the Vineyard, particularly in the Oak Bluffs area, and regulations regarding pets in these areas.

i hope that's not out of line, theres nothing worse than somone who walks away from there dogs droppings, i personally witnessed a woman who walked away from the front yard at the edgartown library (i wasnt driving) but we witnessed her pooch poop and then they walked away down water st. and we followed her all the way past the HV around the point to the back on fuller st. and then my friend just laid right into her with an attitude because she was too good to pick up after herself, lucky for her she didnt do it at the hotel. that could have been an ugly scene.

Dear Mr Anderson, this is Marthas Vineyard Island not disneyworld. if your wondering what to do with your four legged friend, its the same here as if you were at home, there are plenty of parks and public access places of walking and bikeriding recreation, just please pick up your own poop and have a good time.
The island is 6/7ths of dukes county with the 6 towns all having there own bylaws, but usually nobody will say anything if you take care of your own messes.
realise between Memorial and Laborday there are few public places (hotel or inn's) which will allow animals, you will most likely have to rent a home that allows them, and beware theres usually a shortage of those too especially as we get closer to nicer weather. (6-12mo waiting lists are common).
and make note if your walking past (or heaven forbid onto the grounds) the harborview hotel in edgartown, and there gardener sees you with a dog you will be followed, and if your pooch lifts a legg he will be targeted and quite possibly chased with a garden hose. (they dont like it when we bring our rifles to work!)
This Is a Good Ole Boy Island but nobody likes stepping in your poop! (and its not good for the lawn either)
ofcourse you could put it on spike lee's front yard, he lives just outside of the 14th green on the farm neck golfcourse! and i think he's a quart low too!
